Nate + Jenny’s All American Christmas Card Archive

Taking a cue from Jenny’s mom who vigilantly saves copies of all important family documents, this official online archive of Nate + Jenny’s All American Christmas Cards is a remembrance of holiday greetings past.
(Those that we can still find at least. Sorry, Mom.)

Merry/Happy (circle one) Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus 20__

Nate + Jenny’s first Christmas card, taken at the Redland Family Farm in Oregon. Contemporary holiday card format with blank space for custom greeting appropriate holiday salutation per recipient. Also the first card with an intentional photo of N + J taken specifically for the holiday greeting. If you know Nate, you know it’s a Christmas miracle to get him on the lens side of a camera.

Minimal design with maximum effort. After pouring through photos of the year with no clear winners, we elected to focus on the colors and shapes of the season. Christmas green of different opacities are layered to create tree silhouettes. Classic Helvetica type wishes of holiday cheer.

Souvenir Folder

Based on vintage postcard accordions with multiple cards to save or send. Images of patches, hikes up Sentinel domes, and knickknacks collected over the summer. Seven states, four national parks, 18,197 miles traveled. At the end of all the travel a new adventure began with the welcoming of Gerd the Cat into the family. Our hearts and photo album capacities grew three sizes that day.

Over the River. Through the Woods. A 2017 Travel Log

A hand bound journal that in hindsight taught us a lot about printing bleeds. The best Halverson family photo of all time. Route 66, camp omelets, Hamilton in SFO, and Nate and brother Phillip on the summit of Mt. Adams. We spent the year all over the west coast smashing pennies, checking more national parks off our list, and trying to get the taste of the worst tiki drink we’ve ever had off our palettes. Gerd got even more adorable, obviously.

Nate and Jenny’s All American Roadtrip Sticker Set

“If you ain’t vannin’, you ain’t shit.” - Walt Whitman, probably. Nate had the great idea to buy an obscure old Japanese van, which has ultimately become our go-to adventure sleigh. Gerd went on his first (and last) road trip. We traveled to Joshua Tree National Park in 120 degree weather and Olympic National Park in the fog. No decent pictures of us as usual so Jenny created custom cartoons of the family and gear to slap onto images of our adventures.

Camp Nate + Jenny

There’s nothing quite like a letter from camp and we’re thrilled so many were welcomed to our expansive retreat chock full of opportunities for adventures, hairpin curves, and free ice water. The only Tiki bar in Montana does not disappoint. That long stretch across the eastern part of the same state unsurprisingly does. Next time you’re out west we’d love it if you paid a visit. Let us know when you’re on the way and we’ll get the campfire and s’mores ready. You’re a stranger here but once!

Kentucky for Christmas / Kurisumasu ni wa Kentakkii

The official fried chicken of Camp Nate + Jenny! Somewhere along the line of planning for our now indefinitely postponed 2020 trip to Japan we ran across the annual custom of ordering a full KFC dinner to celebrate Christmas. While we couldn’t deliver a bucket of chicken to everyone, we did manage to track down the alleged secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices. A batch went out to everyone with the request to join us in spirit over a holiday meal, the best you can do in a year when everyone is stuck at home.

Fun Fact: 15 families sent back photos of their dinners. We hope they were as tasty as ours. Arigato gozaimasu!

LOOK Magazine Volume 8 Issue 1

Ever wonder what articles kept Ralphie’s mother so engaged? It was probably fine journalism like this story of how Nate + Jenny develop their cards and then proudly display them on their tree. That, or features on the Lone Ranger’s nephew’s horse. Either way, this is a chance to put on your creative hats and help us design an ornament for the tree. You can keep yours as your own, or enter it into our T’Ornament of Champions contest to win a 2022 greeting card designed by Nate + Jenny.
